Community bunting

Several organisations kindly helped to create some of the 200 bunting flags for Mill Road Saturdays, including:

Jimmy’s Cambridge

Jimmy’s supports the homeless community in Cambridge and always has a stall at the Mill Road Winter Fair.

We are delighted to participate in Mill Road Saturdays and have been busy producing bunting for the Petersfield display. Here is a sample of our work. Special thanks to Carol Fendick for supporting people at Jimmy’s to make the bunting.

Rowan Humberstone

Rowan is an arts centre and forest school for adults with learning disabilities, from Cambridgeshire and adjoining counties. Since 1984 we have provided a safe, creative, and enriching environment where the arts are used as a tool to bring people together and tackle social exclusion. We’re thrilled to be making some of the bunting for Mill Road Saturdays at Petersfield.

The EDGE Café

The EDGE Café is ‘Cambridge’s café with a cause’. It is a Recovery Hub which supports people recovering from addiction long-term by providing a safe space for friendship, therapeutic group activities and fabulous homemade food. We also operate Mill Road’s Community Food Hub and Community Fridge, tackling food poverty and food waste.

At the Romsey gateway to Mill Road, The EDGE Café will be hosted its own mini events on each Mill Road Saturday, with fantastic brunch and afternoon tea menus and an exciting programme of events. We also hosted bunting making workshops every Thursday afternoon, from 1.30 to 3.30pm, so that we have a brilliant display to welcome the community.

TJ Kids

TJ Kids is an Ofsted outstanding breakfast, after school and holiday club for all children from any school in and around the Mill Road area. Our headquarters is in Marmora Road and we also have a fantastic forest school, called the Wilderbase, just off Vinery Road. The club is open to kids from 4-12 who enjoy a fun, energy-packed agenda with lots of play-based activities and a home-from-home philosophy. If you’d like your children to be part of our club, please email [email protected]

We love to inspire creativity and teamwork and the children were very proud of their community bunting. We can’t wait to see them in flight at the event.

Mill Road WI

We are a new, modern WI welcoming women of all ages looking for fun and friendship. We learn new skills at our meetings, and are always up for an adventure (or two). We meet the 3rd Wednesday of each month and are very happy to be part of the vibrant fabric of Mill Road. If you’d like to join our welcoming group, please just email us! [email protected]

We are so pleased to be able to make some of the Mill Road community bunting!

Kids R Us

We are Kids R Us breakfast, after school and holiday clubs in and around Cambridge. A place where children can play freely both indoors and outdoors. Children are encouraged to create their own play spaces and resources together. Staff are engaging and thoughtful, helping inspire children’s imagination through play. We aim to provide a safe, fun and stimulating environment that children want rather than have to go to. The community bunting is a great idea and the Kids R Us club at St Matthews is very excited to be making some.
