Mill Road Art: John Tordoff

After graduating from RADA, John pursued a career as a professional actor; working in theatre, cinema and television. During these years, any formal training in art was acquired at London’s City Lit and Morley Colleges. In 2004, he bought with his partner a house in Umbria and began to apply himself fully to painting. In 2005, there was a solo exhibition at the Barbican Library in the City. Called Icons, it consisted of 18 larger-than-lifesize portraits of historical personalities in a contemporary style.

Having moved from London to Cambridge in 2009, he participates annually in Cambridge Open Studios and is an elected member of the Cambridge Drawing Society.

He has exhibited regularly with Byard Art, Kings Parade, Cambridge and at present is showing with the Daryll Nantais Gallery, Linton, Cambridgeshire. His work has also been shown at the Mall Gallery, London, in both the Society of Wildlife Artists and The Pastel Society.
